DRIVER WATCH LAUNCHED IN THE BLACK COUNTRY
The Driver Watch Scheme is a crime prevention initiative, set up originally by West Midlands Police at Halesowen. Drivers enrolled as members of the scheme help to reduce crime and make neighbourhoods feel safer by acting as the eyes and ears of the Police as they drive about doing their usual work. Details of any incidents seen would be passed onto the Police to evaluate and take the necessary action. It was reported that the scheme is a passive approach in increasing public vigilance. Participants are only meant to report, and not tackle, crime and potential crimes.

Driver Watch members are identified by Driver Watch stickers on their vehicles and receive advice and training in what to observe. Depending on the severity of the incident observed, drivers could ring the emergency 999 number or the Dudley or Halesowen operations desks for other incidents.

WEST MIDLANDS POLICE PRAISE INITIATIVE
WMP have had a keen interest in the development of Taxi Watch. The potential was realised during several meetings with WMP and Local Taxi Operators and Supporting Councils. All areas of concern could be addressed via the website as well as creating greater awareness of personal safety for drivers it was seen as a great way of keeping good communication between all parties concerned. The 1st anniversary of Mohammed Arshad's Murder will mark the launch of this long awaited safety initiative.

Taxi Watch aim to improve the safety of drivers for years to come, with the support of West Midlands Police this can be achieved.

PRIVATE HIRE ASSOCIATION CREATE NVQ COURSES
PHA have created courses for drivers with NVQ recognition. These courses are set to be mandatory in the coming months as Councils now want a more uniformed Private Hire service. Training up drivers will ensure a better service all around. Drivers will understand the laws and legislation's better and also develop on their career skills. PHA has worked hard to get these courses to be recognised. It is now time for all drivers to have a National Qualification for their services and be recognised as a developing industry.

With the PCV training PHA also do the CPC continuous training for all of the Transport Industry. If you would like to find out more within regards to any of the courses contact us today!! Call us now - 0121 666 6777
